SavaSeniorCare sold a couple of its Illinois properties, part of its plan to transfer the operations of some 48 facilities in its portfolio by the end of 2021. The deal represents the company’s last two properties in the Land of Lincoln.

First, it is handing over the keys of its 74-bed subacute/skilled nursing facility in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to a Midwest-based regional owner/operator. Built in the 1960s with additions throughout the 1970s, the facility provides a range of services from post-op rehab, stroke recovery and respiratory care to advanced therapy modalities like diathermy, heat and cold therapies and electrical stimulation, just to name a few. Lab and X-ray services are also provided, in addition to in-house counseling, an in-house psych nurse consultant and in-house dental options.

Current operations are not known, but the facility could benefit from smaller, more regionally focused management, as opposed to SavaSeniorCare’s coast-to-coast operation. With the ownership transition, the facility will be also be renamed.

The same buyer also purchased a 99-bed skilled nursing facility in Odin, Illinois. Built in 1975, it had been owned by Sava for around 15 years and provides a similar suite of services as the Mount Vernon facility. At least two other facilities were sold in Illinois, and Sava closed another near the Iowa border to fully exit the state.
