Eclipse Senior Living has transitioned more of its properties to other operators. A Discovery Senior Living and Ventas joint venture first announced the rebranding of 19 former Elmcroft Senior Living communities, which have been reallocated across Discovery’s national and regional brand companies. Many of these communities, which span multiple states, have transitioned from Eclipse’s Elmcroft brand to Discovery’s TerraBella brand, while Ventas will continue to own the properties.

The deal results in the TerraBella’s transformation into a regionally-focus, wholly-owned subsidiary management group for Discovery, while giving rise to two new regional brands entitled SummerHouse and Seaton. Of the 19 total communities, 13 were rebranded under TerraBella, with SummerHouse beginning as a three-community, Alabama-focused portfolio and Seaton taking over two mid-Atlantic communities. The final community will be managed by Discovery’s Texas-based Morada Senior Living brand. Dave Adams, who has served in an executive advisory role with Discovery, will become the division president of TerraBella.

In a second deal, Sagora Senior Living is assuming operations of 12 middle-market seniors housing communities from Eclipse. The properties, located in Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, West Virginia, New York, Ohio, North Dakota, Mississippi and Texas, bring Sagora’s total senior living portfolio to 57 communities. Eight of the communities operated under Eclipse’s Elmcroft brand, while the other four were operated by Eclipse’s Embark brand. This deal expands Sagora’s presence into states it did not previously operate in.

This deal marks the second time Sagora has taken over an Eclipse community, with Sagora assuming operations of an Embark-branded community in Houston, Texas earlier this year. Sagora was also among the first operators to publicly reveal its takeover of former Eclipse communities following Eclipse’s announcement that it was shutting its doors.
