Active adult is attracting a lot of attention from developers and investors these days, but one of the pioneering companies in the sector is continuing to add to its own portfolio. Last month, Del Webb announced the groundbreaking of a new community, Del Webb Southern Harmony, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, which will feature around 1,100 single-family homes and an abundance of amenities. Now, the company is opening a new active adult community in North Fort Myers, with at least 900 homes.

Called Del Webb Oak Creek, the gated community will offer single-family homes in dozens of designs ranging from 1,405 to just more than 3,000 square feet of living space with two to four bedrooms, two to four-and-a-half bathrooms, and two- and three-car garages. Sales should begin this summer, and there is already a five-home model neighborhood. Many homes will overlook 80 acres of lakes and more than 90 acres of preserves.

Amenities are always important to the sector’s appeal, and there will be a six-acre amenity campus featuring a grand clubhouse, fitness center, a movement studio for exercise classes, a catering kitchen, and community and activity rooms. There is also a separate, full-service poolside bar and grill, open-air and patio dining and additional seating under an adjacent tiki hut. Finally, the community has eight pickleball courts and three bocce ball courts. A full-time, on-site lifestyle director will plan a year-round calendar of community clubs, classes, outings and events.
