The Ensign Group announced a slew of transactions to start the month of July. Its first acquisition was in Las Vegas, Nevada for Henderson Health and Rehabilitation. Built in 1983, the skilled nursing facility in the town of Henderson comprises 266-beds on 3.7 acres. Pennant Healthcare LLC, a subsidiary of Ensign, will be taking over operations of the facility. 

The next acquisition included a bundle of five skilled nursing facilities in the state of Texas. First, Ensign acquired the operations of The Eden of Las Colinas, located just outside of Dallas, which comprises 118 beds. Ensign also added the operations of Pleasant Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Garland, which comprise 124 beds and sits on 2.27 acres just outside of Dallas. Millbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, is a 124-bed skilled nursing facility. McKinney Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in McKinney, comprises 125 beds. Lastly, Park Manor Bee Cave has 140 beds on 5.75 acres in the greater Austin area. 

Ensign’s busy start of the month continued with the acquisition of the operations of Villa Maria healthcare campus in Tucson, Arizona. The campus consists of 3 facilities, a 65-bed skilled nursing facility, Villa Maria Post Acute and Rehabilitation, a 31-bed assisted living community called Villa Maria Wellness Living, and a 30-bed behavioral health unit, Tucson Recovery at Villa Maria. 

  Purchase prices were not disclosed and the sellers were regional private owners/operators. 

In addition, Ensign’s new captive REIT Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, Inc. acquired the real estate of three skilled nursing facilities in California. Premier Care Center of Palm Springs is a 99-bed SNF in Palm Springs operated by another subsidiary of Ensign. Brookside Healthcare Center has 97 beds in Redlands and is also operated by Ensign. Finally, Broadway Villa Post Acute in Sonoma has 138 skilled nursing beds.

Standard Bearer also acquired the real estate at two of Ensign’s new operations added this month: the Villa Maria campus in Tucson, Arizona, and The Eden of Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.

Standard Bearer launched on January 3, 2022 with 95 properties. In the first quarter, it added two assets to its portfolio, both of which were also operated by Ensign affiliates.
