There’s a new, and sizable, team in the seniors housing and care brokerage world. And luckily, as we are in the middle of the busiest period of M&A activity ever, there should be enough transactions to go around for everyone to welcome the competition.
Torey Riso, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of legal, business and real estate experience, including holding the CEO roles at Care Investment Trust and Blueprint, joined SVN Senior Living Advisors in February 2024 to help expand the firm’s reach into the seniors housing and care sector. He is partnering with Tony Yousif of SVN, an experienced commercial real estate professional who will serve as a “single point of contact” advising institutional clients, especially those with distressed assets in their portfolios.
SVN Senior Living Advisors will provide strategic advisory, valuation, investment sales, and debt brokerage services to stakeholders in the sector, including public and private owners, operators, lenders, special services, trustees and receivers. Already, the firm has valued over 50 seniors housing assets for a national lender, been engaged by a number of owners/lenders to explore dispositions, and brought to market a couple of senior care assets. The first closings are not far away, with over 10 separate seniors housing and skilled nursing assets/portfolios in various stages of proposal/engagement.
Riso will be running the group, which has grown considerably in size in the last year. Don Husi brings more than 30 years of experience in operations, debt & equity placements and investment sales, most recently at Ziegler. John Klement has more than 20 years of business and real estate experience, with advisory and investment sales roles at Marcus & Millichap and JLL before joining SVN | Hintze Commercial Real Estate in 2021.
Josh Salzman, a 15+ year veteran of the industry and formerly the General Counsel at Blueprint, was also a commercial litigator and an M&A professional who has worked on complex workout, foreclosure and bankruptcy transactions. Finally, Aaron Thompson brings more than 10 years of real estate advisory and investment sales experience, previously at Marcus & Millichap before joining SVN | Hintze Commercial Real Estate in 2021.
